Factory supervisor to successful entrepreneur
A 43-YEAR-OLD former factory supervisor with a diploma in civil engineering has turned into a successful entrepreneur selling the country's favourite snack -- keropok lekor.
Ghazaley Ayub, of Kampung Serkat in Kukup, Pontian, started his business five years ago with only RM5,000 ($2,137).
Today, he sells about 9,000 packets of the snack monthly in the state and Singapore, bringing him an average income of RM3,000.
Packed under the tag, Keropok Lekor Crispy, the public's response towards the product has been overwhelming.
This has prompted him to ensure that hygiene and quality are a must for his products.
He is assisted by wife Noorbiti Burhanudin, 37, and nine workers. "The demand for my product grew after I took part in several carnivals in the district," he said.
